The latest private commission is now with it's lovely new owner. This piece is called 'Home and Away', I was inspired to call it that, because of the hobbies of the doodle recipient. On one hand they are avid fans of Aldershot Town Football Club and on the other hand they love playing the cello and watching Eastenders. The more you look at the piece the more 'favourites' that you can see I have sneaked in.
If you have anything to add/suggest/recommend etc, PLEASE let me know, I need all the help I can get. I will be tweaking and adding things, the more art/craft events that I do. I am not 100% sure whether they will even be profitable for me as business, so it is all going to be trial and error.
The main things I will be selling will be original doodles and prints, with maybe different merchandise in the future, but for now it is all about the doodles.
DISPLAY
Table cloth- I think I will be basing this on a 6ft pasting table type size, but material should I go for? Something loose, something fitted, bright colours or mute colours, the possibilities are endless. I am tempted by a sexy black spandex number at the moment.
Table cloth clips - No idea what these where until I googled it! The need for these, depends on tablecloth.
Actual table when one is not provided - Usually suggested to get a 6ft one, not sure what to get.
Chair when one is not provided.
Boxes under table cloth for variations in height - Not sure if I will bother with this at the momet.
Mini display easels - for special doodles and mini canvases (when I do some).
Magazine rack to hold prints (otherwise known as print cradle or print browser). Magazine racks are way more reasonable in price.
Doodles - Original/prints - Hmm will definitely need these! (hehe).
Cardboard mounts and cellophane bags for all doodles.
Display/info boards - I was thinking of using chalk boards or something printed out and put in a nice frame.
Props – May just use various framed doodles as props to avoid clutter.
Previous doodle portfolio, will have some pictures to share, but also planning on having a picture/photo book made up too.
OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS
Money box & float - Should it be a locked money box? How much float?
Hello, I just thought I would update you on events that I am doing, so that you can come and see me! Erm I mean have a look at the doodles and other arty type things. It will be a great chance to chat about any commissions you could be thinking of and to see some of the artwork up close and personal. It would be awesome to see some new and old faces!
I will be selling some original illustrations and doodles, as well as some cool limited edition prints.
These are going to be around the North West of England for now, sorry all my awesome International doodle fans!
A thousand apologies for not updating this blog more often, to be frank, I dislike this blogging platfom a lot and still defer to my main blog 'A little piece of me' far too often. I shall endevour to put right this henious behavious and update this place more often.
Remember to follow me everywhere else, well not literally everywhere, but:
I thought I would do a quick blog on some of the materials that I use for doodling. I originally started using just watercolours, but after discovering the world of Inks, I fell in love with that medium! I still love watercolours though
I fell in love with drawing inks because of their brilliant colours, but with dye based inks, they are not very good if you use them for pieces displayed in the light, but great for scanning etc
As I wanted something that had brilliant colours and was lightfast, I wandered into the world of Acrylic inks. I use them like watercolours, by diluting the inks with distilled water and you can produce some beautifully delicate colours, as well as awesome vibrant ones.
Hey I got a tattoo! Okay not really. I have been brainstorming various ideas, that will add fun and create some advertsing for the business. After seeing 'Creative Boom' mention these dudes 'Roood Boogie Temporary Tattoos'. It immediately struck me as an awesome idea, especially when I saw that they did bespoke designs.
So I shot them an email , asking about prices, minimum amount that I could purchase and what designs would work. I cannot rate the customer service highly enough. I had some great email conversations with them and my order arrived so fast. It was a pleasure do business with them and I am definitely going to be ordering some more in the future. I have had my tattoo on all day and it still looks great, I think I will feel a little sad when I have to remove it. I haven't even designed my business cards yet, but I am classing these as walking business cards and I have some very fun ideas for their usage. So check back here, or on facebook, or on twitter, yep social network a plenty! I also regularly blog over at my personal blog 'A little piece of me' from the comfort of a blogging platform I understand (when it isn't being silly).
Attempt number seven hundred and fifty million to add a 'blog' to this site...Hello to anyone reading this and thanks for visiting 'The Doodologist', grab a coffee and sit back, it may take a while for me to get the hang of this blogging platform.
